An atlas is a collection of maps, traditionally collected in a book, but nowadays atlases are online platforms, interactive and interoperable systems with which the users can navigate the cartography, reach more detailed information about a particular aspect of the map, turn on and off different thematic maps and layers in order to understand in better way what the territory wants to tell.
The Territorial Atlas is an online web tool for the freely accessible to the public that provide an overview of the actual urban planning policies and directives that the STATUS territorial partners follow.
THE STATUS PROJECT
The STATUS project is tackling the problem of incoherent urban and regional development in South Eastern European and neighbouring countries by jointly developing an approach that can help cities and regions in making integrated and sustainable urban agendas and place based strategies by participatory planning tools.
The Territorial Atlas is a website for map-based access to STATUS project spatial data from several territorial partners. The current version of the Territorial Atlas is a "beta" service and we will be making lots of changes while we experiment with how users want to use the site and the data services. Later in 2014, it will become a fully supported stable "production" site.
The Territorial Atlas is designed to:

Browser crash when using Firefox 30.0
When using Mozilla Firefox 30.0, certain operations in the Territorial Atlas lead to the browser crashing. This bug has been acknowledged as a bug by Mozilla and a fix found. This is now fixed in Firefox Beta, which will be released as Firefox 31 in the week of July 22. In the meantime, when viewed in Firefox 30.0, the STATUS Territorial Atlas will default to 2D mode (you can switch to 3D mode if you want but Firefox may crash). If you really want to use 3D mode, we suggest using Google Chrome or Microsoft IE11 (or a version of Firefox earlier than 30.0).
Support on Smartphones
The initial "beta" version of the STATUS Territorial Atlas is not specifcally designed for use on smartphones. It may have a reasonable level of functionality and performance on some devices (especially ones which have WebGL support) and not so great on others. A future version of the Territorial Atlas will more specifically address use on smartphones.
Q. How do I report bugs or suggestions for the Territorial Atlas?
A. Write an email to: email@example.com
Q: What is the Territorial Atlas?
A: The Territorial Atlas is a website for map-based access to Soutch East Europe spatial data from different Territorial Partners that are part of the consortium of the European project STATUS. For more information, see the seecityplatform.net website. The current version of the Territorial Atlas is a "beta" service and we will be making lots of changes while we experiment with how users want to use the site and the data services. Later in 2014, it will become a fully supported stable "production" site.
Q: What data is available through the Territorial Atlas?
A: Current datasets cover information on land, water, infrastructure, broadband access, boundaries, population and more but they can be easily extended. The actual datasets depend on the datasets provided by the territorial partners during the project development.
Q: Who's behind the Territorial Atlas?
A: The Territorial Atlas is an output of the STATUS project and the software has been developed by Fondazione GraphiTech. The Territorial Atlas software builds heavily on the Cesium open source geospatial browser software.
Q: Why are you doing the Territorial Atlas?
A: The Territorial Atlas makes spatial data available allowing municipalities urban departments, urban planners, architects and citizens to propose and display new policies, strategy and changes on the territory.
Q: How do I use the Territorial Atlas?
A: Go to the INFO section of the Territorial Atlas and check the specific section.
Q: What data formats and services are included?
A: ECW, GeoTIFF, SHP files with georeferenced attributes, WMS and WFS services. Other formats could be included in the future.
Q: What browsers are supported?
A: It is best to use a browser with WebGL support such as the latest versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer 11. It will also work in some older browsers (eg IE9) but the map rendering will be limited (eg it will not support 3D rendering of maps).
Q: I like the Territorial Atlas. How can I set one up for my country, my city or for the world?
A: Email firstname.lastname@example.org and we can discuss this with you in more detail.
